HDD or SSD

144 posts in this topic

Question is way too simple. I run my OS off a 250GB Samsung EVO M2. 960. My working documents sit on an older 500GB Samsung EVO 850. My Downloads/Uploads folder is on a RAID1 2TB array from which I backup useful stuff to my expandable Synology hybrid RAID NAS (currently at 12TB). So yeah, SSD and HDD.

SSD, because it is so much faster and for everything else there are external HD that are really cheap.

HDD and only for one reason, when he is going to die you can hear that as disk become noisy. And SSD die without sound and sudden. I lost a lot of data that way

SSD's have gotten way better since they first came out. I have a 1 TB SSD internal and its the best thing ever. Only issue is there is no data recovery if there is ever a short circuit or static electricity.

SSD for boot/OS and you'll never want to go back.  HDD for extra storage space.
